This whisky barrel coffee table gives reclaimed oak a new role at the centre of your home. I make each table by hand in my one-person workshop near Loch Lomond, combining wood from a Scottish whisky cask with its distinctive metal band and slender hairpin legs. The result brings together the texture of working oak and a simple, open base.
Oak, metal and the character of a cask
The visible boards, grain and variations in colour make the top individual. The riveted metal band follows its circular edge, keeping the cask's construction part of the finished design. Its raised rim gives this model a different profile from a flat cask-head table.
I work with the character of the reclaimed material rather than trying to make every table look identical. Natural differences in grain, colour and surface markings mean the table you receive will have its own appearance. The photographs show the style and construction; individual pieces vary.
