Reclaimed Whisky Barrel Glass Holder – Oak Stave with Barrel Hoop

Price

£35.00

This reclaimed whisky barrel glass holder is a substantial oak stand, hand-cut from a retired Scotch whisky barrel stave and finished by hand in Scotland. It measures roughly 20 cm long, 8–10 cm wide and around 3 cm tall, with a tartan-lined cradle for a stemmed dram glass and a band of the barrel's own steel hoop riveted across the front. Optional laser engraving is available if you'd like to add a name or message. The glass itself isn't included.

From working cask to a keepsake on your bar

Every holder begins as part of a barrel that once held maturing Scotch. When a cask retires after years of service, most of that oak is simply scrapped — we rescue it. This piece is hand-cut and carved from a barrel stave, then sanded to lift away the grime while preserving the char and patina the wood earned over its working life. A length of the original steel barrel hoop is cleaned and riveted across the front, so a piece of the cask's own ironwork lives on in the finished stand. A panel of Scottish tartan is set into the bore to cradle your glass softly, and a few coats of Danish oil deepen the warm honey tones and tactile grain. If you'd like, we can add optional laser engraving — a name, a date or a Scottish toast such as Slàinte Mhath. It's honest, first-hand work from our wee workshop near Loch Lomond.

Key details

  • Hand-cut from a reclaimed whisky barrel — genuine American oak, never faux or engineered wood.
  • Larger format: roughly 20 cm long, 8–10 cm wide, about 3 cm tall.
  • Banded with a length of the barrel's own steel hoop, riveted across the front — real cask ironwork, not a reproduction.
  • Tartan-lined cradle (around 60 mm) holds a stemmed nosing glass, copita or small wine glass securely.
  • Optional laser engraving available — add a name, initials, a date or a Scottish toast.
  • Finished in Danish oil to highlight the warm honey tones, char and natural oak grain.
  • Glass not included — pair it with your own favourite dram glass.
  • Each one is individual: because the wood is reclaimed, grain, colour and char vary — character, not flaws.
  • Handcrafted in Scotland near Loch Lomond.

How it fits your space

Set this reclaimed whisky barrel glass holder on a home bar, a whisky shelf or a desk and it keeps a favourite glass upright and ready while adding a warm, tactile anchor of real oak and cask iron to the room. The rust-and-amber palette sits naturally in an industrial rustic interior, a snug study or a cabin-style room, and it pairs well with the rest of our reclaimed whisky barrel range — from bar accessories through to whisky wall decor. With an optional engraved name or message it makes a standout gift for a whisky lover. If you'd like something distillery-specific, we also make holders cut from named casks, which double as genuine Scottish distillery memorabilia.

What is the metal band made from?

The metal band is a length of the barrel's own steel hoop, cleaned and riveted across the front of the holder. It's genuine cask ironwork — the same hoop that once held the staves together — not a reproduction part.

Where do the barrels come from?

The oak comes from retired Scotch whisky casks sourced here in Scotland, near our Loch Lomond workshop. Each barrel spent years maturing whisky before we gave it a second life as this reclaimed whisky barrel glass holder.

Can I add engraving?

Yes — laser engraving is an optional extra. We can cut a name, initials, a date or a Scottish toast such as Slàinte Mhath neatly into the oak before oiling, turning the holder into a one-of-a-kind keepsake.

Does it come with a glass?

No — the holder is sold on its own so you can pair it with your own favourite dram glass. The tartan-lined cradle is sized for a stemmed nosing glass, a copita or a small wine glass.

Which glasses will fit?

Any stemmed glass with a foot or stem up to about 60 mm across will sit neatly in the cradle — nosing copitas and small wine glasses are ideal. A stemless tumbler rests flat on its own base and doesn't need a holder.

How do I care for it?

Wipe it with a dry or barely damp cloth, and keep it out of the dishwasher and away from soaking. Because it's sealed with Danish oil, a light re-oil once or twice a year keeps the oak grain rich and the hoop looking its best for years.

Does it make a good gift?

It makes a thoughtful gift for whisky lovers, home-bar builders and anyone hard to buy for, and the optional engraving adds a personal touch. It arrives as a handcrafted piece with real provenance that tells a story every time they pour a dram.
