Glenlivet 1997 Whisky Cask End Wall Art – Reclaimed Oak Barrel Head

Price

£229.00

This Glenlivet 1997 whisky cask end wall art is the genuine, reclaimed head of a single Glenlivet Scotch whisky barrel — American oak, roughly 58 cm (23") in diameter, handcrafted in Scotland and ready to hang. Some pieces don't just decorate a wall; they hold a story, and this one carries the provenance of a real Speyside cask rather than another mass-produced print.

From Speyside cask to statement piece

This American oak barrel head spent years in the Highlands cradling spirit destined to become The Glenlivet — the Speyside distillery George Smith founded in 1824 as the first licensed still in the glen. The original stencil is still legible across the grain, reading GLENLIVET DISTILLERS, 1997 and cask number 4083. When the cask gave its last dram, the wood didn't belong in a skip; we carried it back to our workshop on the Highlands–Lowlands border near Loch Lomond, sanded back the grime by hand and preserved the char, the markings and the patina of time. What you receive is reclaimed whisky barrel oak, honoured rather than hidden.

Key details & benefits

  • Genuine reclaimed cask — cut from a real Glenlivet 1997 Scotch maturation barrel (cask no. 4083). Authentic Scottish distillery memorabilia, never a reproduction.
  • Substantial size — roughly 58 cm (23") in diameter x 5 cm (2") deep. A true focal point, not a token piece.
  • Warm honey-to-amber oak tones with a charred surface and rust-hued hoop marks that add real depth to any whisky wall decor.
  • One of one — every barrel head varies in grain, stain and markings. The dents and stains are character, not flaws.
  • Ready to hang — wall-mounting hardware included.
  • Handcrafted in Scotland in a small workshop, oiled and finished by hand.

How it fits your space

This Glenlivet 1997 whisky cask end wall art was made for the wall above a home bar, but it's just as at home in a snug, a study or an industrial rustic interior of exposed brick and dark wood. In a cosy kitchen or dining room it brings warmth; in a man cave or whisky corner it anchors the whole room. Pour a dram by the fire and it does what good oak should — it makes the space feel lived-in and welcoming.

Questions we get asked

Is this a real Glenlivet whisky barrel?

Yes — this is the genuine reclaimed head of a Glenlivet 1997 Scotch whisky maturation cask (cask no. 4083). Barrel Craft Studio is an independent Scottish workshop, so it is authentic distillery memorabilia rather than official Glenlivet merchandise.

How big is the Glenlivet 1997 whisky cask end wall art?

The Glenlivet 1997 whisky cask end wall art measures about 58 cm (23") in diameter and 5 cm (2") deep — large enough to stand alone as a centrepiece above a bar or fireplace.

Where do your whisky barrels come from?

Our whisky barrels are genuine retired Scotch casks from Scottish distilleries. We reclaim and finish each one by hand in our workshop near Loch Lomond, so every piece is a reclaimed whisky barrel with real provenance.

How do I care for it?

Care is simple: dust it with a dry or barely damp cloth and keep it out of damp or direct heat. If the oak looks dry over time, a little furniture or Danish oil will revive the warm honey tones.

Will mine look exactly like the photos?

Not exactly, and that's the joy of it. Each reclaimed whisky barrel head carries its own grain, char and stencilled markings, so your Glenlivet cask end is genuinely one of a kind.

Does it come ready to hang?

Yes — wall-hanging hardware is included, so it mounts straight from the box.

Would it make a good gift?

It makes a thoughtful wedding, housewarming or milestone gift for a whisky lover — a piece of Scottish distillery memorabilia he'll actually use.
